First reported in a 2018 paper by Vlaskamp et al., a de-identified woman passed away from aspiration pneumonia. Only identified as “patient 14” in the study, SYNGAP1 encephalopathy – A distinctive generalized developmental and epileptic encephalopathy, she was, and remains to this day, an important member of our community.
She was 33 years young.
