Host of the Scramble for Syngap Fundraiser
Julie holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Louisiana Tech University but later returned to school to pursue her passion for healthcare, earning her degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Over the course of her career, she has worked in various settings across Louisiana and Texas, and now practices in acute care physical therapy.
Julie and her husband (Michael) live in South Carolina with their three children. In July 2020, their oldest son, Miller, was diagnosed with SYNGAP1-Related Disorders through Whole Exome Sequencing. Shortly after his diagnosis, Julie became deeply involved with CURE SYNGAP1. Julie joined the Board of Trustees in 2023 and currently serves as the Board Liaison for the annual CURE SYNGAP1 Conference. She is also the lead organizer of the Scramble for Syngap, an annual fundraising golf tournament in its fifth year (2026).
Julie is dedicated to building community among SYNGAP1 families and advancing research through advocacy, outreach, and connection.
