Ed Gabler

Communication, Marketing, Advocacy

Ed is a retired Horticulturist, having worked for 26 years for one of the largest landscape firms in the Chicago area. Father to three daughters and ‘Bapa’ to four grandchildren, he moved to northern Ohio with his wife Donna in 2017, the same year that Syngapian Cole was born.

Cole was diagnosed with SYNGAP1 in 2019. “We are fortunate to have relocated to be near our daughter’s (Jess Fares) family so we could help her with all three of her children, but especially Cole. It’s challenging, at my age, but the rewards are endless.”

Ed spends his “retirement” writing journals for each of the grandkids, expanding his collection of native plants in the backyard, and spending a lot of time with the little ones. He began volunteering with SRF in spring of 2022 assembling the newsletter. “I want to do everything I can to promote SRF and Syngap Families to help find a cure in my lifetime.”
