Amber’s son Isaac was diagnosed with SYNGAP1-Related Disorders at 19 months old. Soon after his diagnosis, Isaac was hospitalized for 10 days for a seizure event. CURE SYNGAP1 and its community were so helpful and supportive, she knew she had to give back in some way.
A graduate of Florida State University (2019), Amber is a software developer who has always had a passion for graphic design and the creative side of things. In addition to Isaac, born in 2022, her household also includes a Siberian cat, an ornate box turtle, and two Samoyeds, who are show dogs. She runs a Facebook group called the Florida Snowflakes for Florida Samoyed owners and also boards, fosters, and rescues Samoyeds when she can.
Her “dog shenanigans” have slowed recently, but for a long time there was rarely a week where her house didn’t have extra dogs around. It was chaotic, but she loved it, as did Isaac, though his clear favorite is the cat!
Through her work with dogs, Amber has become very familiar with Canva and Illustrator. She runs a hobby Etsy store with Samoyed designs she’s created that makes enough to sustain itself. “I am super excited to bring my talents to CURE SYNGAP1 to raise awareness for SYNGAP1 and work towards finding a cure.”
