CURE SYNGAP1 Volunteer
Brian Sheehan and his wife, Alana, live in Massachusetts with their son, Felipe, who was diagnosed with a SYNGAP1-Related Disorders in August 2024 at the age of 21 months.
Brian graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2010 and is now a life insurance actuary. He has earned the ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) credential.
After a year of missed milestones, fear, and stress, Felipe’s diagnosis led the Sheehans to CURE SYNGAP1, formerly known as the SynGAP Research Fund. Grateful for the organization’s information, advocacy, and support- and inspired by the progress being made in research and treatment- the Sheehans now volunteer with CURE SYNGAP1 in the hope of building a better future for all SYNGAPians.
